Day One
Start of an Adventure
We left Salt Lake City and pointed the car toward Four Corners Monument, then cooled off with a swim in Gallup, New Mexico.

Day Two
Exploring the Southwest
We wandered the Petrified Forest National Park, stopped by the 1950 Wigwam Motel in Holbrook for photos, and stood at the rim of Meteor Crater. In Winslow, Arizona we stayed at La Posada Hotel before dinner at the Rootbeer Stand — the one featured on HGTV.

Day Three
Art, History, and Wildlife
We stood on the corner in Winslow, admired the car art, and hiked Walnut Canyon National Monument. In Flagstaff we visited an 1886 bank and hotel, ate lunch at Key Hole Sink, and met the wildlife at Bearizona in Williams, Arizona.

Day Four
Route 66 Icons
We rolled through Seligman, explored the Grand Canyon Caverns, and gawked at vintage cars. After the Route 66 Museum in Kingman, we crossed Sitgreaves Pass to Oatman and finished at Lake Havasu.

Day Five
Bridges and Bright Lights
We crossed the London Bridge at Lake Havasu and drove into Las Vegas — the Hershey, M&Ms, and Coca-Cola stores, veggie pizza, the arcade, the Strip, and the casino.

Day Six
Homeward Bound
On the way home we stopped in Fillmore, Utah to see the state’s first capital building.
